Septoplasty experiences

If you have had a septoplasty, please share your experience? I'm due surgery for a deviated septum but I'm considering not getting it. I read people being left with post nasal drip which I really don't want!

Hi I had the procedure, I had a deviated septum. The operation was straight forward and I was home the same day. Took about a week to recover and I did have a nose bleed which freaked me out on the first night home but all was ok. No post nasal drip and also much less sinusitis. I would recommend if you suffer with repeat sinus infections as I did before the operation.

Mine was amazing and I'm so glad I had it done, must be 7-8 years ago. Much easier to breath, snoring almost disappeared, no more sinusitus, pain and I believe many fewer colds and flus (or maybe just not so severe symptoms), and off the constant cycle of sinus washes, steroid sprays, ibrupofin and decongestents. Downsides - the couple of days I had the packing in was really uncomfortable and removing it was a very unpleasant experience; and losing a lot of my sense of smell. Occasionally my nose drips in very cold weather but not often and not a problem to me.

Thank you both! So reassuring to read! I have a completely flat nostril on one side & can't breath out my nose & I think it's contributing to headaches & fatigue so definitely worth getting but I was concerned I would cause myself more harm than good. I was worrying about recovery too but doesn't sound anywhere near as bad as i was imagining
