How long off work sick with sciatica?

Earlier this week I was signed off work with my latest sciatica flare up. I've suffered with it (not constantly, but occasional flare ups) for a few years but this is the first time it's ever been severe enough for me to be unfit for work.
I've been signed off for 2 weeks, the GP will review me towards the end of the 2 weeks.
Just looking for experiences of other sufferers, how long has sciatica made you be signed off work? I do a very desk-based job, GP said that won't help me recover :( Need to be up and moving around as much as possible. He's prescribed painkillers but I'm still kept awake at night by the pain of it.
Wondering what to expect.. Weeks? Months?

Couple of weeks iirc. Look up sciatic nerve flossing, really helped me.

5/6 weeks but not because of pain, I had total foot drop because of the nerve compression which made walking hard. Had a bit of back and forth about needing surgery or not but it largely resolved itself eventually.
Have you been referred to physio or can you self refer? It's such a complex issue and the pain and recovery are pretty individual, but movement and physio are absolutely essential.

It’s so dependent on so many variables. Get to a good physio, work out what exercise you can do and try hard to stay mobile and build support. As above nerve glides / flossing really help.
