What is wrong with me?

Of course, I don't expect anyone to know but seeing if anyone recognises the symptoms.
I'm 37, female.

  • Hair is falling out, my husband can't see any obvious patches thankfully, but I'm seeing it all over the floors, attaching to my clothes and after washing my hair I get big load of hair balls( see photos and more that gets stuck in the drain, more it's soapy hair that's not my hair being gross on the photos)
  • Periods have become heavier and more painful over the last few months to a year. Getting big clots. Usually last 7/8 days. Last year were very odd, one lasted two weeks. One lasted two days and very light. They have always been heavy but not like this.
  • Spotting in-between periods

-I have had a full blood count at the start of the year, all fine but was very low ferritin and was on iron tablets for 3 months which I haven't had in the last few months as it was a while ago.

  • I'm waiting on gyne all since April as bleeding in-between periods.
  • I have had a cal125 test as I was worried about OC symptoms as I get IBS etc. Test came back as normal range (33) , test range( 0-34)
  • I had a urine test a few weeks ago which showed a UTI and put on antibiotics for that for 3 days.
  • On my periods I get ridiculously hot and at night time, when I never used to.
  • Heart flutters becoming more often again (had this a couple years ago, had egc and apparently all okay).
  • I will add although unrelated, very bad acid reflux which was sorted by prescription meds at the start of the year.

Any ideas? Thank you for reading of you got this far.
I might add more symptoms if I remember any more that I have forgotten about.

Photos are from the last 3 hair washes.

Tbh it's only your age that's not saying menopause.

I'd probably get your iron checked again going on the flutters.

I am not a doctor. Get your ferritin tested again. I would bet it's still low. Hairloss can be related. Go back to the GP. Have you talked about / considered peri menopause? I know you are young for it but I went through meno at 47 and peri starts a good 7-10 years before that often. I am not on HRT but use vaginal oestrogen to stop UTIs. But mostly, go back to your GP and try to find one who takes you seriously and knows something about menopause.

I did wonder if I should get my iron checked again. I do supplement with a multivitamin that contains iron but maybe that's not enough.

Could you have PCOS?
Or a thyroid issue?

Peri menopause has crossed my mind but looking online it just shows generic symptoms, I don't know if there's more symptoms they don't discuss?

Although thyroid runs in my family, it was checked earlier in the year and it was fine.

PCOS I don't know, maybe they will find out when they eventually give me the appointment I'm waiting for.

It's the symptoms you've described that I've experienced that made me think menopause.

Something isn't right though. I'd go back to the GP and ask for more bloods.

So my peri symptoms were wacky periods (really really heavy and closer together), night sweats, anxiety (=heart racing), and UTIs.

That's very interesting, I've always had anxiety but it's really ramped up recently. I have been getting help with that (CBT) although it's not really worked yet. Currently waiting on a 1:1 now.
