Chronic Pancreatitis

Anyone here dealing with this? I keep getting pancreatitis attacks for some reason. Surgical don't want to know because there's no gallstones in my gallbladder. Nobody seems particularly bothered in spite of the levels of pain I end up in.

Does anyone know what I should be doing in order to live with this? What pain relief can I ask for? They offered codeine at the hospital, but that's contraindicated in pancreatitis and can make it worse.

Obviously I know to have a low fat diet and avoid alcohol (I don't drink anyway), but weetabix and apples have set it off recently, so I'm struggling to find foods to eat.

Possibly too much fibre? Have you tried eating nothing for a day?
My dad had this and it’s awful- he wasn’t given any medication either, not for years.
If you experience weight loss or back pain go back immediately.

Google says Gabapentin, steroids, antidepressants in terms of meds, I can recall dad had some meds at one point I think it was Tramadol.

Thank you. I'm seeing the gp this morning for pain relief, but I don't know if they prescribe tramadol anymore due to people abusing it. I'm cutting fibre right down and hoping to control with diet. I can't believe they just leave people to get on with it.

Try a low fibre diet first, you need to slowly work through elimating the food groups to see what helps. Are you constipated at all?

No, not constipated. The gp is going to test for h pylori because indigestion sets off my pancreas, I have noticed this. He's also prescribed Buscopan.

They won't prescribe painkillers because people have abused them in the past so I have to phone the surgery to go in and get an amalyse test and ask for painkillers then. Or 111 if out of hours, who just send you to A&E 😫
