Post jaw surgery permanently ill

My DD had upper & lower surgery (bilateral osteotomy) on her jaw and subsequently seems to have had a permanent cold every winter. This is developing over the past 2 years into sinusitis. She still had metal hardware, screws& plates in.
Does anyone have any experience/ thoughts correlation with sinusitis & having metal plates still in?
🤞she’s had blood tests for immune system, all ok & she’s otherwise healthy, good diet etc?
Any thoughts appreciated

I've had that surgery and my plates and screws are still in, but when I get colds I'm usually over the worst within a week, and to my knowledge I've never had sinusitis. That doesn't mean that the metalwork isn't causing your daughter's issue, though. It's certainly worth asking the dentist and/or orthodontist if they think it's a possible cause, and maybe they can arrange further investigation.

Thank you 🙏 yes we’ve got an appointment with the maxillofacial dept to investigate. They said they take plates out in approx 8% of cases.
