3 week virus

I've had a cold/flu type virus. It's well into the third week now. Blocked nose, cough, aches and pains, fatigue and feeling generally unwell. It's not improving. Is this normal for a virus or could it be something else?

Its normal if you have covid for symptoms to last that long or longer. You also could have a secondary bacterial infection, which can happen if the initial viral infection suppresses the immune system. Hope you feel better soon 💐

I don’t know if it’s normal but this is week 4 for us as soon as the children went back to school one came home with a cold and then the other caught it and the baby and me but somehow dh didn’t.
We all still have it mid October. My cough is going but the nose is like a tap.
Hoping to better by Christmas.
Looking after poorly little ones and a poorly baby when you’re not 100% for weeks is exhausting.
Hope you feel better soon, it does seem like everyone you speak to has had a cold for weeks.

I’ve had it for 3 weeks now too. I’m immunocompromised which doesn’t help. I’ve done Covid tests and they’ve all come back negative.

Whatever this is has given me nasty cold sores along with everything else.

pizzaHeart · 13/10/2025 09:32

Are you sure no improvement or is it just a slow one?
Any way if it’s really slow or nothing I would try to get GP appointment to be checked to exclude pneumonia.
However it might be even 2 different viruses over 3 weeks.

For me it’s like one step forward and two steps back. I felt pretty good on Saturday, so did some work around here, yesterday I felt pretty grotty again and not feeling too smart today.

Whats not helping me either is that I’ve got Rheumatoid Arthritis and anything nasty like this flares that up quite badly.

I think so, last virus I had was 12 weeks, antibiotics did nothing (of course) so all I could do was wait it out

I tried to go back to work yesterday but it was awful. I've had a horrible night again. Sinuses blocked and asthma has flared. I will be definitely trying to see the GP. I hope everyone else is feeling better. It's especially hard with little ones so I hope they're on the mend too.

Just wondering how people are now. I’m on week 4, still loads of catarrh and tired and breathless.Having asthma doesn’t help..
