Just why? It’s the 13th day of feeling rotten, snotty and miserable.
how long until I’ll feel better?

Same, I've been ill since last Saturday, I keep saying I feel fluey, thought it was just me so I'm here in solidarity.
I feel absolutely rotten.
Hope you feel better soon.

I’ve woke up this morning with a headache and sore throat then have felt nauseous all day. Hope you both feel better soon

Mine lasted one month. I was first in the queue for a flu jab this year. I hope you feel better soon.

I had flu last year. I was bed ridden with a very high fever for three full weeks. I had a couple of tearful phone calls with the doctors because I genuinely thought I was dying. At one point I literally crawled to the bathroom. It was awful. The doctor told me it can last for weeks and weeks. She reckoned that very few people recovered in five days like the NHS website suggests. I hope you’re over the worst and feel better soon!

Sure it's not Covid? Several of my colleagues had this, then another did a Covid test as a precaution before visiting an elderly relative in a care home and apparently the result was instantaneous. Cue a couple of others testing and yep, Covid was ripping through the school.

I am on day 6 now, its not covid , have done a few tests...am so bored of spending time in bed watching things on the tablet as cant face reading a book....friends have been dropping nutritious food and have a full freezer...i expect to lose 2 weeks in total with this...wanted to finish off garden but cant hardly walk.

DonewhatIcando · 12/10/2025 06:43

I've done a covid test, clear.
As this has lingered so long I did suspect covid, it must be flu, can't remember when I've felt so ill for so long

Have you had a flu jab OP? I did, but am feeling rough. On day 2 but hoping the jab will save me from a long protracted illness...

If you look at the hospital admissions stats, if you're sick it's very likely to be COVID (if you're in England or wales).

From the expert themself : If someone says they are in bed with flu, it’s almost certainly Covid, given that the number of people admitted to hospital for Covid last week was 50 times higher than the number admitted for flu! Flu is seasonal - last year we had a massive flu spike, concentrated within a few weeks around New Year, and this year’s season has barely started. https://christinapagel.substack.com/p/england-is-now-experiencing-a-significant?triedRedirect=true&utm_source=substack&utm_medium=email

What day of symptoms did you test? Chance of a false negative is very high until at least day 4 of symptoms so you need to test more than once. Even then, RATs still miss COVID cases. Best to swab deep in your throat/tonsils as well as your nose and do it first thing in the morning before drinking or eating. This is because viral load takes a few days to reach noticeable levels.
