Statins. Should I take them?

My dh Qrisk is 14,total 5.2,ldl 2,trygylceride 1.Should he take statins ?He is 68 years old.Thank you.

I reluctantly agreed to a low dose stating because although my cholesterol was low my qrisk is high due to other conditions. It's probably the only of my many medications that has given me zero side effects.

No definitely not. Much better to make lifestyle modifications. One of the biggest killers of the elderly is prescription medication.

The vast majority of cholesterol is genetic and made by the liver. You can't diet your way out of it unless very unhealthy to begin with

The fact that GPs are getting £100 per person they get on them, that’s why all of a sudden everyone is being prescribed them, including myself and I wondered why my arthritis pain was getting worse, side effect of the statins. My cholesterol wasn’t even that high. I came off them immediately.
