He is 3.5 months old.
He is still colicky in the evenings plus he has a flat head and I have heard that cranial osteopathy can help with both.
He has his first session today but I have no idea what to expect or how many sessions he will need to notce a difference (if it works at all!)

Any experiences?

We took our baby son for CO treatment as his sister had plagiocephaly and we wanted him checked out. He didn't have it but he did have other problems. We were there for about an hour which is twice the usual time, but DS2 was so interesting he wanted to spend longer with him. We still only paid the half hour charge. I know it helped our son and aren't really interested in the sceptics tbh.

How many sessions depends on what, if any, the problem is.

Good luck.

They will just gently hold his head and move the plates. It will look like they are doing hardly anything.

By the way cranial osteo can't really help with the flat head UNLESS there is an associated neck stiffness or torticollis, which it will help. That in turn will mean your ds won't be holding his head to one side quite so much.

However, you should also follow the tips put out by Plagio UK for repositioning, because he is still young enough for repo to correct his flat head. Have a look here: www.plagiouk.co.uk/repo/repo.html

My dd had her first session at around 10 wks. I distracted her by feeding her with a bottle (I was mixed feeding at the time), while the osteopath cradled her head in a v gentle way. He seemed to stroke her head and apply pressure with his thumbs. She didn't object at all, and afterwards was v relaxed and she slept more hours that evening. I went because she was developing a slight flat head but more importantly the situation would have deteriorated as she was unable to turn her head properly to one side. She had 5 fifteen min sessions and she now has a lovely shaped head. Hope it goes really well for you.
