She has the sunburnt sandpaper rash from her fasce down to her thighs - concentrated in the hot folds of her body.
She has the fever.
Although she didn't complain of sore throat DP andI have the sore throat which she may have had but not complained about as she is too young IYSWIM

She has seen GP who diagnosed "non specific viral infection".

She is at least 3 days in already. Is it worth bothering with GP again for ABs? I feel reluctant to go to GP and tell him Google says its Scarlet fever.

I am happy to let it run it's course without ABs given we are already 3 days in, so long as it is not likely to harm her not having them.

It is possible to get over it without treatment with no problems, but I wouldn't want to risk it for my child.

You need anti bs asap as I have had the heart and kidney problems caused by it and it is serious but so treatable.

Ledodgy · 04/06/2008 09:06

As she isn't that ill with it I reckon it's morw likely to be Scarletina

SlightlyMadSweet · 04/06/2008 10:24

GP says not Sacrlet Fever or Sacrletina. Rash ticks all the boxes, fever ticks all the boxes but as there are no oral/throat symptoms he refuses to diagnose Scarlet Fever.

I am still not convinced.

On the plus side her temp was a bit lower this morning, and rash not a red. She is a bit perkier too.

Emma....I know the complications are v v v v v v rare....I just needed something to convince DP

If she has no throat symptoms then your GP is right. The sore throat you get with Scarlet Fever is incredibly painful, like no other sore throat I have every experienced. Your DD would be in a lot of pain.

SlightlyMadSweet · 04/06/2008 11:01

I can't be sure she didn't have a sore throat. She is not really a complainer either. SHe is only 25m, so not old enough to tell us per se.

We think she may have been pulling at her neck Sat/Sun saying "neck" but we thought she was just giving one of her anatomy lessons. We just can't be sure.

DP and I have certainly picked up a v sore throat from somewhere over the weekend.

the strep throat precedes the rash

slightlymadsweet · 04/06/2008 11:42

TBH it was the lack of current strwberry tongue which was important as lack or preceding Strep throat that led him to his conclusion.

She's peeling now

Her finger pads have all gone.

She has also been peeling near her nostrils

How long is this likely to last?
