Varicose surgery

Hi,

I have Venous insufficiency and a lot of problems with that leg. I am due to have day 'surgery' to fix my leaky valves very soon. I have terrible varicose viens in that leg too.

I'm wondering if anyone has any experience of having this done? It's via the NHS due to various complications (large swelling, skin changes etc).

What's the recovery like and the procedure itself?
Is it painful? What can I expect afterwards? As I have 2 DC who are still young (2 & 5).

My consultant said it may not even work for my leg so I'm a bit concerned about that. If you've had it, did it work for you?

Nurse also mentioned I'd be going home in compression stockings so not to drive? Does that mean I can't drive the whole time I'm in them?

Thanks!

What kind of procedure are you having? Laser? Foam? I had both last year and it was very straightforward: in and out within 90 minutes. I couldn’t drive for 48hours but after that it was fine.
