Has anyone used Calecim for hair loss? Or any other suggestions?

I’m 52 and still have regular periods but am definitely in peri menopause. I also have fatigue post Covid that I’ve never recovered from which has meant I’ve had to stop all exercise.

Have had numerous blood tests and all looks fine but my hair is so thin now, I’m contemplating chopping it all off and getting a wig! It’s always been v fine but it now has significant thinning on the crown and all over.

I have numerous contact allergies so I haven’t tried Regaine as I suspect I wouldn’t tolerate it and it would make it worse. I saw an advert for Calecim today and wondered if anyone had tried it? Or any other less drug like remedies?

I've found collagen has worked a lot better for this than calcium. Has also massively helped my nails and skin. I am meno and been on hrt for 4 months

You need to eat meat on the bone to get high quality bio available collagen. Make sure you’re eating plenty of protein every day.

1.5g of protein (not meat) per kg of your body weight. So if you’re 80kg that’s 80g - 120g of protein a day.

Collagen was quite useful for me too - I take marine collagen in powder form. Are your iron (ferritin) levels optimal? They should be at 70 for hair growth but the reference range for normal can be as low as 15. You can buy prescription strength iron over the counter. Add a good multivitamin and mineral.

Iron all good (ferritin 120) and all my vitamins fine.

I haven’t tried collagen, I’ll look into that. I could definitely do with some more protein in my diet too. Thanks for the tips!

Hi op
Im assuming you mean Calecim the hair serum with microneedling? I have tried it, followed the full course & it didn’t work. I have had some success with regaine, but it does make my head itch sometimes.

I highly recommend oiling your hair atleast once a week, Bantana oil has definitely helped my hair growth I also use rosemary oil.

BluePine · 27/09/2025 09:29

@Offredismysisterthat’s exactly what I meant - the Calecim with the microneedling. Sorry to hear it didn’t work. It looked good on paper but it’s always useful getting real life recommendations as it’s quite expensive so I didn’t want to waste money on something else

Mine is so much better than it was, I don’t know what has improved it though. Not sure if you’ve considered a hair replacement system as a last resort. If so look at iconicf*kin hair on instagram. They can work wonders.
