Hey all. Dont judge me for coming on here, but I love my mumsnet haha basically 5 days ago I tripped over a hoover wire. Me being me tried to save myself by hopping to the other leg but instead, looked like superman flying up the hallway 🤣badly hurt my hand. Mainly my thumb which swelled and bruised lots within minutes and was like kt for 2 days. Swelling and bruising nearly gone. But the little finger stated hurting too and borh still hurt when trying to bend them but since yesterday I've had the pain spread into wrist/arm. The only way I can describe it is like the feeling you get when you hit your funny bone. I get that in hand and arm especially when trying to clench a fist and a feeling of someone trying to twist my arm thebopposite way. Weird I know. I know we should g3t th3se thibgs checked but because at first it was just the thumb I felt silly going to minir injuries for a thumb 🤣 plus it was my sons awards night so didn't 2ant to miss it. I don't reckon anything broken but others have said i ahouldve got checked or strap it.i know we're not all drs nurses etc but still thiught id pop a post up either way as some may have similar stories so please don't judge haha I am already in 2 minds wondering wether to still get it checked, I just don't want to waste their time if its nothing

It's not nothing - you only get one pair of hands. You need to get it checked over asap and possibly an x-ray, especially if you've got nerve pain like that, which is a bit concerning.

Minor injuries would be happy to check it for you, I'm sure.

I had a similar type of injury on my ankle, couldn't walk or put any weight and it swelled and turned many different colours. Went to A&E (was before minor injuries was a thing) and they told me it was a sprain and sent me home with a leaflet.

Ended up being torn ligaments and needed months of physio. Has never been right since either.
