thinking of you Yorkie. It might, as you say, be that nothing is found, but I think it will be at least a degree of peace of mind (not really right phrase, but ykwim) to you that you have had potential risks looked for.

A practical thing to do, Yorkie.

Of course you are scared, the fear must be acute

Hi Yorkie. What a worry for you, but I agree that it is for the best. My dd has some significant heart problems so if you need info on the actual cardiac tests your girls will have please let me know.

Was there a visual indication of a problem with Nigels heart - I'm assuming there was a postmortem? Sorry, this must be difficult for you to talk about.

Oh Yorkie. Yes that must throw up more questions than answers for you.

A part of dd's heart problem involves her left coronary artery which now takes an unusual route and is implicated in sudden death, although usually when the person is active rather than resting. It's a shame that the PM wasn't more detailed. To lose Nigel so suddenly must be very hard but coping with it in a foreign country must add to the difficulties tenfold.

I hope you have a good time when you go back to Portugal this year. x

Yorkiegirl, utterly terrifying but if it is something genetic, then there will be measures they can take to safeguard your daughters.
Will really be thinking of you, Dinny xxx

Hope all goes well-I would rather know either way because then maybe there is achance to stop history repeating itself-whenever.

Will be thinking of you.

Saggarmakersbottomknocker · 05/06/2008 08:04

Hope it all goes well Yorkie. Hope dd feels better soon.

RosaLuxembourg · 05/06/2008 10:45

Hope it goes well, Yorkiegirl. I am very interested in this as I am coming to think that I should have had my DDs checked out. DH has a congenital heart defect that has been partly corrected by surgery. He was told many years ago that it was not hereditary, but I have recently discovered that this is not strictly true. I would be really interested to know more about how the genetic cardiologist goes about assessing risk.
Thinking of you today and hoping all is well.

ggglimpopo · 05/06/2008 10:47

My little ds had a full cardiology workup and we are currently doing the genetic profile.

Wishing you all the best yorkie.

Glad you feel reassured Yorkiegirl and I hope the full pm report can clarify things further for you.

triplets · 06/06/2008 23:17

Yorkiegirl, who are you seeing? My trio are being screened this year by Dr Sanjay Sharma at Kings or Lewisham hospital in London. Our son collapsed and died suddenly in 94, Harry and I were screened by Sharma last Oct, all clear, but he wants to check the children out this year. At the moment we are trying to cope with my Dh illness, but must get the kids checked for peace of mind. I have never forgotten you losing Nigel xxxx
