Lump under skin on back, bit worried.

Hi

I’ve had a small painless hard lump under the skin on my lower back for about 6 months. In the last two days it’s now become sore and it’s got bigger. It’s right under the skin so I just thought it was nothing and I’ve kept putting off having it checked, which was stupid. I will contact the doctor tomorrow.

Anyone had similar? It doesn’t move position under the skin which is why I’m worrying now.

Is it right at the base of your spine? Could it be a pilonidal sinus?

No it’s higher than that, it’s just around where my lowest back ribs are and a couple of inches left of my spine. Feels like it’s right there under the skin in my back fat, not deep at all.

Could be a cyst? Get it checked out. If your GP surgery offers minor procedures they might be able to remove it and send for testing

Might be a lipoma-a firm fatty lump. But as everyone has said-just get it checked out.
