Does this sound like asthma or something else?

Chest tightness, breathlessness, feeling like I need to take deep breaths, I cant even walk upstairs without feeling so out of breath and my chest tightening. Chest pain, palpitations, a cough that comes and goes throughout the day.

Went to the doctor with the chest pain, ECG came back abnormal so I was told to go to A&E. They did a chest xray which was fine but they found a heart murmur so I have been referred for an echo. However the breathlessness is getting so bad now, I just constantly feel like I’ve just finished a run. I have another call with the doctor tomorrow because I’m going to ask if they can check my lungs.

Has anyone had these symptoms before? I know only a doctor can tell me what’s wrong after my tests, not strangers on the internet. But I’m home alone right now and my thoughts are all over the place

Have you had any bloods done? Low haemoglobin can cause breathlessness.

@Makingmywaytowndown Can I ask how you're feeling now and did you get to the bottom of this?

What was your Hameoglobin and what was your ferritin?

You can get air hunger with low ferritin and the NHS is known for telling women their bloods are 'fine' when they are not!

Hey, I’m not feeling great. I still have the same symptoms as before, plus fatigue. I had an echo which showed I have an Atrial Septal Defect, so a hole in my heart. The right side of my heart has become enlarged which is what will be causing my symptoms as my blood is mixing and shunting from left to right. The oxygenated blood that should be going to my body, 70% of it is going back to my lungs so my heart and lungs are overloaded and working a lot harder than they should be. I am on a waiting list with Liverpool heart and chest hospital to see if they can close the hole
