Waiting time for MRI result

Just wondering how long people have waited for results from non-urgent MRI scan results. I had a scan back in July (10 weeks ago) for something that was unlikely to be serious but they just wanted to check all ok. Not heard anything since. I have left voicemail at hospital but no response & no results have been sent to GP (MRI was requested by ENT dept at hospital). I assume it's nothing serious and aren't worried (I hope I'd have heard if it was!) but the wait seems excessive. There's no easy way to chase or speak to anyone. Thanks

I had an mri on Sunday on head and spine, results on my medical record Monday.
might just be nhs trust dependent.

1 day! I'd have been happy with that! I'm now at 73 days...

I would ask the doctor to chase it up. That's too long

It's impossible to contact anyone at hospital. It always goes to voicemail and then no one gets back to me. GP surgery aren't interested in chasing for me as they didn't request the MRI. Not sure if this is something I could raise a complaint about somewhere (but with who when you can't contact anyone?) I guess I could go to the hospital in person? The MRI was at a private provider but I was referred there by NHS (it was in a supermarket car park - all very odd!)

Can you not email the ENT consultant's secretary?

I had an MRI and I think waited about a month to see the results. Which were that there was nothing there. If there was something concerning I'd hope they contact me sooner.

Just had a CT on my sinuses and the follow up call with ENT surgeon is in mid October.

I have an annual one and it’s normally within two - three weeks (NHS) I had a spinal one (it was private) and it was a week

Had an urgent one in March, ordered by orthopaedics, and still waiting to see neurology to confirm the results/more tests. Did go through it with orthopaedics around 10 days after the initial MRI but no diagnosis yet as the scan did come back with changes.

Sounds like bad luck compared to everyone else’s quick results! They did say they would have called immediately/not discharged after the scan if something really bad had come up.

I called everyone multiple times during the 10 day wait…. The MRI department, the orthopaedic secretary…

I have regular MRIs (non urgent) and the waits are quite long where. I think the last one was 3 months but has been as much as 6 months just after covid. As other posters have said - it will be trust dependant so you could ask for the current lead times on non-urgent MRIs to set your expectations.

Thanks for comments. It sounds like it's not too different to some of your experiences. It's frustrating as I want to book a holiday abroad for November but doubt I can get insurance while I am waiting on results!

We had this issue too and used staysure, who covered for everything except what the MRI was for. We had to sign a waiver to say that was ok etc. but at least we were covered for everything else.
