Turmeric and surgery

I don't want to bother the hospital with this question as I feel like it's a silly question. Dd had spinal surgery at the Royal Orthopaedic in Birmingham end of August. (Amazing hospital IMO.)
She was told not to have turmeric before the op which she didn't. She doesn't take turmeric supplements anyway but is it OK for her to have a takeaway curry on Friday which could contain turmeric?

Why no turmeric prior to surgery? Did they explain why?

Order dishes without turmeric. Ask the restaurant to recommend a dish.

I think it's because tumeric acts as a blood thinner, so it won't clot so easily. I would avoid it completely until after her recovery just for your piece of mind.

I’m sure it’s fine, it’s only because Turmeric can thin the blood, so it can stop clotting so not ideal pre operation.

They’ve given you this information for a reason. I’d have pizza instead and get a curry post op.

Thanks

Just to clarify she had the op end of August and they said no turmeric/fish oils for a week before the op. They didn't say that after the op but I was unsure. She ended up phoning about something else (after I'd posted) and asked that too and they okayed it. Thanks for all replies
