Hi all,
My mum had surgery yesterday to have a pacemaker fitted.
Unfortunately she experienced a rare complication in that one of the pacemaker leads punctured her heart and caused a small fluid leak. This made her blood pressure plummet and she was kept in overnight instead of being allowed home.
Her BP has now stabilised and because the fluid amount is very small, the doctor says it will drain by itself within a couple of weeks.
What I wanted to ask for advice / people’s experience about was that she has had low level pain in the area of her heart (so not the pacemaker insertion site) since yesterday. I will obviously flag it with the consultant today when I go to see her at the hospital but could this be because of the injury during surgery or another issue?
If anyone has had a similar experience or any knowledge about this I’d be really grateful to hear about it. Thank you
