I have possible gallstones and awaiting a scan date. I'm not in agony thankfully, just discomfort.
Has anyone any tips to reduce the chance of a bigger flare up?
Happy to get it whipped it if its been confirmed

I'm in exactly the same situation. I've been advised to cut down on fat, and after a week of eating a very low fat diet I woke up this morning not in pain for the first time in several weeks. Have you been given any diet advice while you're waiting?

Just low fat and cut out spicey/coffee/alcohol. I’m also not in pain today, it could have been a bug I guess. Scan could be a few weeks so I’ll be on edge thinking is/isn’t gallstones.
what are you symptoms?

Just a lot of pain in my right hand side, sort of under the ribs. It's worst when I wake up, and disappears completely during the day, except on a couple of occasions, when it's stayed uncomfortable until I've taken some codeine (prescribed by the doctor while I wait!).

Having also been diagnosed with gallstones recently I would advise a very low fat diet - I have cut out caffeine, alcohol, cheese, crisps and white bread to name a few. Looking at the fat content on food labels has been a real eye opener the past few weeks. I have stuck rigidly to only eating foods with a less than 3% fat content - so far no further flare ups!

I also got told a low fat diet while I waited and it eliminated all symptoms (and lost weight!). I cut out puddings, chocolatess, most cheese and was eating low fat yoghuts anyway. Hope it is resolved soon.
