ACNE breakout - HELP

PeonyPatch · 02/09/2025 20:37

I have had a bad acne break out on my chin and jaw line. As an adult woman who is client facing this is SO embarrassing. I thought my acne days were well behind me as I follow what I thought was a pretty good skin care routine. I’m not going to lie, but I’m pretty devastated.

Can anyone recommend what I can do about this?

I am considering skin+me or Dermatica(again).

When I looked at your photo I thought to myself that you have great skin and an amazing jawline.

That said, it’s not how you feel, so my comment is, I’m sure unhelpful!

Have you been under any stress recently or had disruption to your sleep? I ask because I wonder if there is anything that could have temporarily upset your hormones.

TheLilacStork · 02/09/2025 21:06

I feel for you but honestly you still look lovely, have you tried blue lagoon from Tropic skincare? I really like that, it helps my skin so much. You can get your money back if you don’t like it if you send it back within 30 days. I know it gets so expensive trying out different skincare

Toothpastestain · 02/09/2025 21:21

Spot dots would sort those out overnight

Aww, thank you @AnnaSunshine you have made my day with your compliment!

I have recently traveled to Spain for the weekend, so I’m wondering if travelling/flying... But honestly, otherwise, nothing. I slept amazing while I was out there and I’ve been on annual leave for the past week 😕 so no work-stress. I try to eat healthy, drink tonnes of water, no alcohol and limit sugar. It’s annoying.

Thanks! No I’ve not tried this. What is blue lagoon exactly? I’m thinking to try skin + me…

We use Acotye but cheaper brands also seem good. Good luck!

You may start with a basic routine for acne. So here goes the routine with that:
Morning:
Using water to wash your face,
Sebamed clear face gel,
Garnier spf
Evening:
Micellar water
Cerave moisturizer,
Tretinoin (0.1) from skinorac
Sebamed clear facial gel

this is the blue lagoon. I cleanse, tone, put this on, wait a few minutes then use hyaluronic acid then moisturise. It helps correct the skins micro biome apparently. But I find it really helps. And hyaluronic acid helps as if your skin is well hydrated it apparently doesn’t need to produce so much sebum or oil, thereby reducing the blocked pores/spots.
Good luck

Thank you! Do you know if safe to use during pregnancy or ttc? I use a vitamin c and hyaluronic serum already. I wonder if being in Spain (with sun cream ) blocked my pores or something.

Also heard niacinamide is good (and safe)

Hi yes, the blue lagoon is good to use whilst ttc or pregnant. Maybe you need a different sun cream? I use tropic’s sun day spf because I have sensitive skin and it’s good for me but I used to get spots with sun screen too. When you find something that works for you it’s so lovely

PeonyPatch · 04/09/2025 10:10

I was using La Roche Posay Anthelios factor 50 sunscreen. I really like the consistency compared to my previous one. Could also be hormonal. Thanks everyone xx

I second for niacinamide too
