Hi all,
Can you tell me your experiences woth labyrinthitis?
I had a virus 5 weeks ago, flu type thing and although I feel better with that it has left me with a dizziness/nausea thing.
I feel pretty rubbish with it. Today, I feel like I have a pressure across my sinuses.
GP has given me anti nausea/dizziness meds and to see how it is in 2 weeks. Said it could be labyrinthitis but will refer me to ent in 2 weeks if no better (thats 2 months since the start of the virus) said they'd check my ears and brain 😳
Does this sound like labyrinthitis?

I've had it and I felt dizzy, off balance and like I had motion sickness. It was grim.

Thanks for your reply.
Yes that's how I feel, how long did it last?
Did it improve if you sat or laid still?

It lasted about a week. It was only tolerable if I laid flat in a dark room.

I had it about 20 years ago. It came on really suddenly, totally out of the blue. I went to bed and was fine, woke up feeling dizzy and slightly nauseous. If I tilted my head back,I felt like I was falling backwards. When I lay on my bed and closed my eyes,it felt like the bed was spinning around. I didn't suffer really bad sickness, just a faint nauseous feeling. My DD has had it a couple of times in recent years, and she felt really sick,to the point where she was actually vomiting. I went to my GP about it after a week and he tested me for it by holding a pencil in front of my eyes, moved the pencil from side to side rapidly and told me to follow it with my eyes. Apparently if your eyes flicker rapidly,it's a sign of labyrinthitis. It lasted about 4 weeks in all, went off as quickly as it had started.

I had it a long time ago. Also post viral. Lasted about 2 weeks, and was awful. Couldn't read, watch tv or even walk far without someone's propping me up. Like being drunk, without even the pleasure of a drink! Woke up one day and it had gone. Hope yours clears up soon. 💐

Look up the epley manoeuvre. It can really work. You may need someone else there to help you as you need to remember the moves in the right sequence!

The GP made me follow her finger but she didn't say I flickered 🤭 maybe I've bucked the trend. I had more nausea last week, this week it's more dizziness, like I'm drunk.
