Dilemma with surgeries

OK I have skin biopsies via incisions to be done on 8th Sept mid afternoon. One on my arm and one on the outer side of my knee. Would my knee swell up that makes it difficult to walk?

Normally, one of my parents would have been able to pick me up. But my DF has surgery under GA scheduled in the morning. My DM has to pick my DF up from hospital. Based on experiences of all three of us, he will need picking up mid afternoon earliest.

I don't want to postpone my surgery as have accepted an offer for a job last week - which requires me to drive there. Still don't know a start date yet awaiting checks etc. Need the surgery done a good week before I start.

Am having local anaesthetic on the areas where the biopsies will be performed. Would I be able to get a taxi back home?

I would say yes given it’s a local anesthetic on your arm and leg, you might be sore and limp but you should be able to get a taxi home.

Have a read of the NHS webpage on skin biopsies.

Also you can call the hospital to confirm if it will give you peace of mind.

Find out about having a biopsy, why it's done and what happens on the day.

I’ve had a couple of skin biopsies one on my hand and one in my arm, they sound similar to what you are having. I had four stitches in each and both times went home on the bus with no problems (they were both done there and then I didn’t know I was having one done).

The local anaesthetic took quite a while to wear off. The one on my arm didn’t really hurt at all, the one on my hand was a bit sore but it was on my palm on the heel of my hand.

I hope it goes okay for you.
