Hello lovely ladies,
I have been diagnosed with ckd 2 with protien 3+ and pre diabetic and have high bp i am taking jardiance and ramipril. I am 41
I feel scared all the time and I heard ( or misunderstood?) from an internet doctor that the progression from ckd2 to dialysis is in 4-5yrs. Just feeling lonely and scared. Wanted to hear from anyine who is going thru the same.

How much water do you drink each day?

How much exercise , which makes you breathe heavily, do you do?

I'm not going through the same I'm sorry to say. But I have an egfr of 70 (for the past 18 months at least) and many kidney symptoms. I'm the same age as you. My bloods are 'normal' but only just and the GP just seem to think I'm a hypochondriac. I mean I may be but the fact still remains that my kidneys arnt doing as well as they should be and I don't really know what I can do. There doesn't seem to be anything except don't eat salt, don't eat too much protein.
I find I'm always dehydrated, peeing constantly and thirsty but you know, I can't stop my life every 45 mins to pee and drink.
And the itching is unbearable even on huge amount of fexafenadine.
So I hear your fear and frustration.
Xx

Progression varies significantly from one person to another - it depends on a series of factors like what is behind the decline and how you adapt your health and life from now on.

Rattyandtoad · 27/08/2025 06:35

I guess for you the first things are: get the weight down (mounjaro?). The diabetes will probably start to reverse then. Get a solid diet routine going.
BP down - tablets, gentle exercise to start.
My BP is super super low (not good, is always been high) so I'm faint and weak - can't climb without breathless weak. But weights could be an option to help? Maybe yoga too.
I don't think the progression is anywhere near as fast as you think.

Yeah my kidneys hover between 60-75 egfr, but with no protein in urine. I’ve been told it’s ‘fine’, but I went onto a vegetarian diet as I read research that replacing animal protein with plant rote in can be helpful.

I don’t know about CKD2 to dialysis in a few years, that certainly hasn’t been my experience but it’s definitely something to get on top of as quickly as you can. Do you know what’s driving the high blood pressure and pre diabetes? Diet changes can be so helpful, it’s well worth losing weight if you’re overweight and giving yourself a big health overhaul.

PudgeJudy · 27/08/2025 08:52

I’m not sure where you heard that re dialysis, but it’s absolutely not the case (maybe in some very specific kidney diseases, but not generally in the majority). It’s really important to get your blood pressure into a good range, and the jardiance should hopefully help both your kidneys and prediabetes. Was your ramipril started before or after your CKD 2 was identified?

hello all thankyou for your messages. I drink 2-3l of water... I am a vegitarian and normal weight and I dont smoke or drink ... However, I dont excersise but I keep moving all day. My dad passed away just before he turned 60 due to bad case of diabetes.

I am trying to limit salt, tomatoes and potatoes for now (thou my nephrogist didnt say so).
My bp is in control with the tablets.
I am just worrying that I wont see my kids grow up 😥
