Last night when I was sleeping I felt half of my whole body felt numb, like dead, especially my torso..It must been briefly.
Not sure if it was left or right side, for some reason in the sleep I thought it was right side but I can’t be sure?
Im not even sure if it was real or not?
I looked it up as soon I got up and it says it was stroke or tia?
I’m getting investigated for possible angina symptoms, I had coronary CT scan 2 weeks ago- heard nothing?
Another tests I had : Low cholesterol, normal stress ecg, normal echo.
Suffering from a bad neck, get bad headaches from lying down on certain pillows, this week my neck is badly playing up, clinking, pain upon movement ( this is long term since my 20s)
Im 51 yrs old female.
No any other symptoms but I read strokes could be well silent?

You should not be asking mumsnet. You should be on the phone to 111 or in a&e having urgent treatment and anticoagulation if you suspect you've had a stroke.
Any delay could cause long lasting consequences.

I would seek medical advice if I were you. Obviously numbness could be a stroke but if you have neck pain it could also be nerve issues relating to your spine or if you were asleep it could be some sort of sleep paralysis. If I don't have the right pillow support something weird happens with my neck and pinched nerves and I get numbness in my arms. What you really need is a doctor to check you over and rule out the nastier reasons for what you experienced.

Thank you.
That’s the thing I’m not even sure if it happened, if it was dream or not?
it felt real but I can’t say for sure.

I had serious numbness issues in the past and it was my neck. But you should check with your GP

Betsy95 · 23/08/2025 08:41

You need to checked by a health professional, it could be a number of things.

YesHonestly · 23/08/2025 08:43

Echoing others, you need to see a medical professional.

Hopefully it wasn’t a TIA, but if it was it’s important that you get seen and can be given the appropriate treatment to help prevent any further strokes.

I contacted 111 and told them, they said they will contact me at some point today but he said they are very busy.

Can you lift each arm in the air? Is your smile crooked? Can you poke your tongue out straight in front? If the answer to any of these is no then go to A n E

I did all of these and all are normal, also they made to raise my arms while on the call.
As I said, it could be all just in my dream or etc.. I don’t know. I’m just so stressed and worried now since I read it’s was a stroke that I could now feel all symptoms..absolutely paralysed with fear.

That’s terrible! I would phone them back

Panickinghypochodriac · 24/08/2025 09:48

They did call eventually at 9.30 pm. They asked if I have any symptoms atm I said no really now and they said that’s ok and unlikely anything serious. They said we are not sure if it actually happen, could be me dreaming, or that sometimes bodies just get feel like that as of bad postures while sleeping.
I recall now my left face was also very sticky and puffy - must be from dribling..now that would be definitely symptom but I didn’t say it to them, I just failed to mention it as very stressed..
That’s all.
