I have been doing slimming world since Jan and have lost a total of 10lbs.............Good but I expected more...

I do it 100% although prob have one night a week where I have a takeaway.

Why aren't I losing more..? I have about 2 stone total to loose and a bit gutted its taking so long. I seem to loose 1 lb, put on half, loose 1.5 lbs put on half etc...........

I did have bloods taken about 6 months ago for irons levels and thyroid etc and thyroid ok. I also saw gp about a month ago who said the weight I had lost was a true figure and was good as it meant it was fat and not water coming off iykiwm...He said it was of no concern.

I so thought come ds's christening in July I wold be at target yet my online plan says 2010 for target..

What would you do..? Be happy its coming off iykiwm or speak to the gp..?

Im not a gym person so other than walks with the lo's exercise is hard (lack of time as well) although being a sahm Im never still...

advice please. tia x

Obvious, I know, but cut out the takeaway?
I think you do need to make the opportunity to do more exercise. Will boost your metabolism every time you do it. No idea where you find the time though.

Shhhh

I agree, cut out the takeaways - mega carbs and fat in chinese and indian.

Up your water intake.

Slimming world red almost mirrors low-carbing, try a fornight on red only and see if you can make a difference.

Good luck, dieting is grim [groan]

How old are your children? Could you do an exercise dvd once a week or so, with them joining in/laughing at you?

And cut that takeaway down to once a month as a treat rather than as part of your everyday diet.

wannaBe · 30/05/2008 12:35

get rid of the takeaway.

Drink at least 2 litres of water a day.

up your exercise levels.

And remember, the more weight you lose, the harder it is to lose it.

Right....so no takeaway..........See I thought as it was only once a week and I do my upmost to make it healthy (pizza, no sauce, thin base, half cheese etc..)..I guess you are all right...

Just such a slog and you feel you have no life iykwim...

Well exercise while the lo's are here is hard. Ds is 15 months and dd is 3 years so I get no peace. They do nap but I end up doing chores etc and come 7pm exercise is the last thing I want to do. Im usually exhausted.. BUT I guess I know what I need to do...
Just you hear of people who just diet and lose 5lb a week etc..(my friend) and its demoralising.

Boysarelike (love the name btw ) dh says the same about sw. Says green days seem stupid esp when you aren't exercising to burn the carbs...I will try red days for a few weeks...

I disagree with cutting out your takeaway, i lost 2 stone in 6 mths doing slimming world. I also treated myself to a takeaway one a week, it actually helped my to stick to it the rest of the week, but other then the takeaway i didnt really have any sins the rest of the week.

Are you definatley eating enough?

wannaBe · 30/05/2008 13:11

shhh normal healthy weight loss should be between 1-2 lb a week, 3 at most. Anything more than that isn't generally considered healthy unless you have an awful lot to lose. And the quicker you lose it, the more likely you are to regain it.

BoysAreLikeDogs · 30/05/2008 13:50

Aww it's hard with little ones around.

How about a compromise - keep the takeaway, we've all gotta live, SW red for the rest of the week, up your water and cross your fingers.

Chin up

Thanks everyone. I am quite down about it this week. Each week I have thought : hey ho at least a half loss or a 1 lb gain, nothing to bad and always thought at least its 10 lb off and not on which it could have been had I not joined BUT I am finding it so hard atm...

I thought I would have lost this week as we are on hols next week but no chance..

I have gone down about 1-2 sizes BUT its the weight I get hung up on.

Thanks wannabe,I keep thinking its coming off slowly and mans it will stay off..suppose I wanted overnight success...what annoys me more is that dh & I would like a 3rd dc and the way things are atm I will either still be overweight if I get pregnant again or will reach my goal only to put it back on.. I get huge with pregnancy and gain about 2/3 stone along with having nearly 10 lb babies .

Suppose I feel a bit down today..ignore me..

boysarelike,I don't drink enough (find it hard to remember to drink) and maybe I don't eat enough....geez, noone tells you things are hard with lo's..

Shhhh everyone gets down sometimes when they are dieting but you are doing really well and it is fantastic that you have gone down two dress sizes. That is so much more meaningful than what the scales say. I only weigh literally a couple of pounds more than before I had DS (or I did before I got pg again - daren't look at what I weight now) but I am much fatter and wobblier as fat weighs more than muscle - and I am a dress size bigger. Have you tried taking your measurements and tracking how they get smaller? I find that more motivating than just looking at those blasted scales.
