Itchy breast

I am 52 and had a NHS breast cancer screening earlier this year that was all clear.

However for the last few months, one breast has been itchy every day. I haven’t changed anything and the other breast is fine. There is no redness and I cannot feel any lumps. I do have a history of eczema (though not on my breasts).

I am not a health anxious person at all but have a GP who is incredibly dismissive and I know if I go and see him, he will say I had a scan earlier this year and with no obvious signs of changes other than the itching, he will ignore it.

But if you were in my shoes, would you get a private mammogram? I’m in London so there are plenty available.

I had similar and went to get it checked (mammogram & ultrasound) and they didn’t find anything. It went away by itself after several months.

I’m 43 and in peri menopause

Thanks that’s useful. I think I might go and get it done for peace of mind as I’ve waited for it to go away and it hasn’t. I also have an odd mole on that breast so I wonder whether it’s related. I had to have a CT scan of my breasts many years ago when they started leaking fluid and that was all clear too though they did say I have ‘lumpy’ breasts (I have milk ducts that are quite prominent apparently!).

I have this with my left breast - it started in my 40s & flares up occasionally still. I've had the regular mammograms since it started happening & nothings been found. One GP suggested skin gets drier as you go through menopause, but it is not a dry skin problem. It's odd! I don't worry about, just wonder why it happens & only in left breast!

Where abouts on the breast? I was having problems with itching on the outside of one breast. I eventually figured out that it was because of my spray on deodorant. I was using a sensitive one, but the powder was still migrating down and irritating me. The itching has completely gone once I switched to using a roll on.
