amoxicillin for an ear infection?

Fashionista22 · 20/08/2025 11:07

My child has been prescribed amoxicillin antibiotics for an ear infection as she had a high temperature and threw up a little. She’s fine in herself, it only lasted an hour or so which make me wonder if I should give the antibiotics as I’ve heard it’s terrible for the gut . Any advice on if I should give the amoxicillin? Thanks

Of course you should give it!

Yes give it! Then once course is finished you can get some probiotics to help with the gut health.

Has the Dr looked in her ears? Confirmed eat infection?

Goodness me give her the antibiotics? I am assuming you took her to the Dr's to.be seen what did you expect? Give her some live yoghurt if you are "concerned "

The doctor does consider the risks before prescribing.

If it's been prescribed it's because it's needed.

It only lasted an hour? Did you get her seen by the dr? She must have had more symptoms than a very short lived fever, and vomiting once, or surely you wouldn’t have even called the dr?
