Do you get hayfever? One of my first symptoms every year is a kind of fullness/pressure in my eyes and a feeling like my eyelids are very heavy and need to close.

ClarasSisters · 19/08/2025 08:00

Have you seen an optician? Are you sleeping ok? Well hydrated?
Tired eyes wouldn't make me think cancer. Are you getting help for your health anxiety?

landlordhell · 19/08/2025 08:00

Have you had an eye check?

GentleSheep · 19/08/2025 08:00

Is that a ferritin of 22 or iron of 22, because they're different things. If you mean ferritin, then 22 is far too low and you're iron deficient. It should be at 90-100.

CortadoPlease · 19/08/2025 08:01

Do you need glasses? Eye strain, even if it’s pretty minor, makes me feel physically tired.

Well I hate to disagree with your doctor but it's not optimal at that level, the range is too wide. It needs to be at 90-100 to be optimal. You'll find many posts on MN where people have been told their ferritin is 'fine' even though it's barely in double figures and they're struggling with fatigue.

The other thing to check is your thyroid. I had deathly tiredness and like you wondered if I had cancer but it was my thyroid!

What’s an eye bud? A duct? If your eyes are dry that can make them tired. Try some warm compresses and viscotears drops.

I have to use my eye drops for several days before they feel better. Also an ophthalmologist told me to wet a face cloth with warm water and hold it over my eyes in the morning and evening. This helps too.
