Hey all. So today I decided to stop taking my desogestrel pill as I’ve had constant spotting and bleeding for almost 2/3 months and it’s really getting to me. If anyone’s been similar, how long did it take for your bleeding to stop and ease? Just so I have an idea.. thanks!

I think I spotted for 5-6 months when I first started it, but this was better than when I wasn't on it (hideous period every three weeks) so put up with it and then it just stopped. Haven't had a bleed or spotting for about 4 years, bliss.

Depending on your reasons for being prescribed it, it’s definitely worth persevering if you can. I went on when it when DS was born as I used to have horrendous 30-40 days of bleeding with a 10-15 day break. I haven’t had a period since and DS is 6 now

With my son (who’s now 8) I was on it and the spotting stopped after 3 weeks. Now with my daughter - who’s 8 months - I was fine on it for about 6 weeks then had minor spotting and the last 2 months it’s been a full on period. Driving me mad. I’ve taken a break from it to see and if it doesn’t clear up will go back to the drs or restart it up. It’s just so horrible! GP says to persevere it could last 6-8 months!! Best contraception ever as can’t even have sex on it anyway 😂
