Long term sun sensitivity after antibiotics

Anyone had this and how long did things take to settle?

Back in May I had a nasty cough which turned out to be pneumonia. I was prescribed a short course of clarithomycin which did nothing so then prescribed Doxycycline for a further week. One of these antibiotics seems to have triggered some sort of sun sensitivity in me and ever since I have been itchy and sore whenever I venture outdoors the itchiness is worst in areas the sun hits: arms / head / chest and scalp. My scalp itches so much I was fanatically checking myself for nits everyday until I made the connection. I wear sunscreen / avoid 12-3pm heat and wear a hat when I can bear to ( hate them they make me feel hot and even more uncomfortable) but the allergy symptoms continue on and on! On really bad days I take prititon to cope but it makes me drowsy and cause nausea I do it only as a last result.

I think I need to go see someone but not even sure they will be able to help and in any case should it be a doctor / pharmacist/ dermatologist or someone else?

Feeling spotty sore and a bit sorry for myself - any advice really appreciated!

I would go to GP. DH was warned about this possibility when he took doxycycline one summer.
