What do lymph nodes feel like?

I have a - I suppose lentil-sized 'thing' under the skin, right by my armpit but not in it iyswim.

It sort of disappears when you try and feel it, but is there if you just gently stroke the skin.

I am getting a bit worried about it but only just found it so can anyone reassure me please as to what it might be?

Too small for a lymph mode. Perhaps its a spot, a cyst or anything but you should get it checked out by the doc. Mobile lumps tend to be granulomas (lumps of gristle) but you should check because obviously breast lumps can show up in your armpits too.

Eek. I suppose I will have to then.

Just got over mastitis but a quick google (bad idea) says that if lymph nodes are palpable due to fighting infection, they would hurt.

This doesn't hurt - I guess it is either something or nothing.

Thanks WMMC x

It is most likely a granuloma. You may have had it for a while but it's only just migrated to the surface - esp if you've had an infection. Try not to worry. It's worth getting checked to rule anything out but it's really, really unlikely to be anything bad.

Lymph nodes are pea-sized and feel deep under the skin not attached to it.

Lymph nodes can get really big though when swollen.
