I have osteoperosis. I've had it for a few years. I broke a bone in my foot 10 years ago and that's when it was discovered. I could gave gad it longer but as I never broke a bone before then I wouldn't know. Was given alendronic acid. Had a scan and bones improved so was taken off it. Had another scan 4 years later and bones were bad again so was put back on it.

I'm getting side effects from it. Constipation and tiredness and headaches. How do I stop side effects? As long as I'm on the drug I will get these side effects and I don't want long term side effects. If I have to take this drug for life and it gives me these side effects will they just continue ue. I'm eating lots of fiber to try and get rid of constipation as I don't want to take laxatives but just fiber on its own might not sort it out. Any ideas.

A doctor told me I've got osteoperosis because I didn't take HRT for the menopause because nobody in my family has osteoporosis so I didn't inherit it. On the other hand my parents could have had it without knowing. My dad broke his hip when he was 80 but nobody told him if he had weak bones. My mum had several falls later in life but never fractured anything so I doubt she had osteoperosis.

They say the early menopause can cause osteoperosis but I went through it at 47 and was told that not the early menopause. I know someone e who went through the menopause at 30
