Red sore skin in both armpits - help!

Chick981 · 14/08/2025 22:27

Anyone got any idea what could help relieve the soreness from two very painful armpits?

I think the rash has been causing by shaving/ chafing / sweating in the heatwave.

Doctor can’t see me until Wednesday and we go on holiday at the weekend. Saw a pharmacist today and they wouldn’t look at rash but sold me a steroid cream, which stings like hell when I put it on.

It really is very painful on both sides. Was a bit sore on Monday when I shaved, but it was overnight last night that it suddenly flared up as super red and angry and painful

Another here having the same thing and using mitchum roll on!! I used suncream for a few days to clear it abd then switched to the mitchum solid stuff and it's been fine. If I try the roll on now, I can feel it irritating me right away. I've used it for years so sounds like something has changed in it!

SomethingFun · 06/09/2025 10:47

This happened to me as well with Mitchum roll on which I’ve been using for years. It cleared up with antifungal cream and I have a Sanex sensitive deodorant now and so far my armpits are fine. Took a couple of weeks to heal and was so painful and sore.

OldBoilerOhYes · 06/09/2025 10:53

I've had this too recently - put it down to shaving but use Mitchum. Really annoying as it's been very reliable for me in the sweaty years of peri. Don't want to find another but I'm not having this all the time.

Flag it to Mitchum as it could be a simple change in their formula such as the perfume or other components that you're reacting to - deodorant sensitivity is taken seriously by the big manufacturers

Yes please do flag it to Mitchum. Blast - I've been using Mitchum roll on for years, it was the only deodorant that worked when I started going through peri menopause. Why do companies change the ingredients of things that they don't need to? Have got a few roll ons stockpiled - I think that there was an issue awhile ago with availability and now stock up when ever it's on special offer.

Yeah my armpits cleared up with steroid cream and I started using Sanex…. Thought I’d try Mitchum again once all cleared up but they immediately were insanely itchy. So annoying.

Bloody hell, I assumed I had razor burn but looks like it’s the Mitchum I’ve been using previously for years! Had insane burning then itching in both armpits, out the blue, 6 weeks or so.

@Conversensational interesting, it’s Mitchum that I use! And I think what triggered it was shaving then putting deo on literally straight away as I was in a l rush to get out the house.

I've had this, this summer after using the pink Mitchum and shaving, but then it persisted!
Sudocrem (and a propolis eczema cream) helped as did using an unperfumed Mitchum.
Although I'm a recovering eczema sufferer with potentially v sensitive skin, this was a first for me.
Maybe Mitchum have tweaked their formula.

Just seen this!!

Should soon be rectified!

Conversensational · 09/09/2025 06:34

Mine is one of the batch numbers. But presumably those batches are going to be on shelves for a while? I think I'll stick to dove for a few months!

RubyJack · 09/09/2025 07:12

There are so many of us who spent the summer months with these rashes and underarm pain.
If only we had known sooner what was causing it there would have been a whole lot less worry.

Chick981 · 09/09/2025 22:46

@RubyJack crazy isn’t it, I’ve seen so many people on social media with similar stories. I don’t think Mitchum understand how badly it affected some people

omg I had the same problem as everyone else from Mitchum recently. Been using it for years with no problems then got a rash all of a sudden with a new one I bought. it was very painful. I stopped using it and eventually bought another Mitchum but different scent and it’s been fine. This all happened last month too. Wonder if it’s a bad batch @Inspirationpending@Conversensational

geekygardener · 09/09/2025 23:16

@Baconmanor@Chickyhipme too.

geekygardener · 09/09/2025 23:19
