Upset tummy

On Tuesday night my tummy started hurting and I had abit of diahrhea (sorry tmi). I waited an hour to see if I needed to go again. I didn't so went to sleep. Thought I'd eaten some dodgy creamed spinach from the supermarket.
Yesterday morning woke up diahrhea again. Extreme tummy pain and then settled. Diahrhea periodically continued for the day. Little bit at a time. Went about 6 times. I did eat some mashed potato's in the evening. Went to bed and slept fine. This morning. Woke up. Diahrhea started again!
Not had this before. I've had some type of food poisoning bug before where I've gone literally every 10 mins for 24hrs then stopped. (Wouldn't wish that on my worst ememy!) This isn't that.
I've also had other food poisoning where I've gone a few times very quickly then it's stopped.
This has been ongoing since Tuesday although I'm aware that's not a huge amount of time.
Should I take some immodium? Surely whatever nasty it is has come out by now..?

Just chill and drink lots of water
will pass

Lennonjingles · 14/08/2025 09:27

I wouldn’t take Imodium unless you have to go out, it’s best to let whatever you have pass through. I’ve had food poisoning twice and couldn’t be away from toilet for 24 hours. DH had something a couple of weeks ago, but he ate the same as me and I was fine, I didn’t catch whatever it was he had, so presume it was a bug, he had sickness and vomiting which lasted 3 days and took about a week before he felt back to normal.

Thank you both. Luckily I'm home today so I'll eat toast and carry on with my new found special relationship with the loo! I'm ready to let this one go 🤣

@Lennonjingles when did yours resolve? I've gone multiple times today and it's still going 😫 I'm feeling very sorry for myself right now!

My. Physiotherapist and his family had COVID last week. Their main symptoms were stomach problems. He knew it was definitely COVID because he is continuing to test because of his work.

Skyblue121 · 14/08/2025 17:47

I did a covid test. It was negative.
Literally just laying on the floor right now. Feeling very weak and have only pee'd once today.

Took 5 days for DH to feel better, might be time to call 111 if you’ve only pee’d once in 24 hours.

deeahgwitch · 15/08/2025 08:36

I had that a couple of weeks back. It took 6 days before it cleared.
All I could eat was toast.
I didn’t take Arret or Imodium, perhaps I should have.
I kept thinking “I’ll be better tomorrow”.
Horrible time but I was lucky that I was off work that week.
The upside was I lost a wee bit of weight.
I put it all back on since though.
It has subsequently come out that quite a few foods were recalled from quite a few retailers due to them causing illness around the time I was ill so perhaps I had eaten something……….
It amazes me that symptoms of food poisoning can strike between a few hours and several weeks after eating certain foods.
I do hope you get better soon @Skyblue121

Skyblue121 · 15/08/2025 08:57

Thank you. I managed to get a few hours sleep last night. Woke up this morning and bam! It's started again.
I managed to get a telephone consultation with the GP so waiting for them to call. I haven't since 10am yesterday so trying to give my tummy time to heal but clearly it has its own ideas 😭

@deeahgwitch its so hard to pinpoint what it could be because the window is so large. Anything from the food on the day to weeks ago. How would you ever know!

Thank you everyone for your kind words. A day in the bathroom again it seems!
Happy Friday all xx

I was like this last week. Very unpleasant.
I put it down to hot weather and possibly not washing salad well enough.🤔 Although I am very fussy about washing fruit and veg normally.
Maybe was covid.

Skyblue121 · 15/08/2025 17:08

Thank you @Whatareyoutalkingaboutnow mines continued today. Spoke to the doctor who said it doesn't sound noro type bug but more aligned with nasty food poisoning. Stool sample sent.
Gave me co amoxiclav though unhelpfully I've read it can cause diarrhea 🤦🏽‍♀️

Morning all

Just reaching out if anyone has any suggestions..... I thought I was in the clear but it started again.

I had watery diahrhea yesterday at 0845 (sorry tmi) then all day nothing. I thought it was getting better. This morning I had a bm. It wasn't water but not solid. I thought okay I'm getting better.
Stomach has been hurting this morning. Had another watery bm again now at 12 so it's like its come back again 😫😫 is this normal? Am i back to sqaure one?? I'm exhausted
