Amitriptyline for RLS

Hi, has anyone taken Amitriptyline for Restless Leg Syndrome? I have been prescribed 10mg by my GP. So far, I have taken 2 tablets in 2 days and they completely knocked me out at night, to the point where I slept solidly for 11 hours and struggled to wake up both mornings. I'm undecided as whether to avoid taking more tablets, as this in itself may cause further side effects...

I take amitriptyline to help me sleep on an as needed basis. I’ve found that (for me) it loses its effectiveness after a while. Taken early evening with a solid palm to be in bed after an hour of taking it, means I wake up refreshed rather than groggy.
Try taking one tablet per night? That’s the dosage I’m on with an allowance to take two if desperate for sleep and not driving the next day.

I had it for migraines. I think you need to give it a good week or two before you get used to it. If does still knock me out though. Take it it two hours before bed so for me 8pm then I sleep solidly through to six/ seven the next day. I feel fine in the mornings now. I did have a chat to the pharmacist about this and was advised to persevere.

I've recently be prescribed them (10mg) for myoclonic jerks and restless legs... like you they have knocked me out big time.
But a few weeks in the groggyness is much less and the legs are improving.
I've also been put on high doses o Vit B as my bloods show I am low and while I was sceptical... I think it's helping !
