MRI private or wait for NHs ?

I’ve been suffering for quite a while with my Achilles ( or something else in that area) and already saw the GP and in house physio. No improvement despite me following their link to exercises ( and doing them)

I have a basic health insurance policy which I’ve never used until this week when I did an online consult and was recommend an MRI scan. This can be done pretty soon. I have to pay a £250 excess. And of course my premium will increase next renewal.

in the meantime I contacts my GP again and they offered me another physio appt. This is not until September. Of course this and subsequent treatment ( if any) will e free of charge. I don’t feel as if being taken seriously and it’s really impacting up my health and happiness - as I want to be more mobile and get back to my running groups etc

WWYD ? I guess I’m torn as am from a family where spending was carefully considered- this would be unnecessary.

I’d wait for the NHS. Any private scan is useful to diagnose, but then you have to pay for the rest of the treatment. You’ll go back into the NHS waiting list if you need surgery etc.

Personally I would get a private MRI scan, I have insurance, but recently had an NHS ultrasound pretty quick within 2 weeks, but surgery to remove my gallbladder I would have had to wait a few months. I’ve had my renewal and it has gone up, but I can go elsewhere and just have this condition excluded, it’s not like it can cause any problem now it’s gone.
