Can’t handle this weight gain

I’ve struggled with my weight ever since the birth of my son 12 years ago. I was always a size 12 and happy but I developed an under active thyroid which really didn’t help. I ended up gaining quite a bit which I lost but developed bulimia.
After the birth of my second child my weight kept creeping up. I have also struggled with health anxiety which I’ve tried numerous medications for and none suited me apart from Escitalopram which I started in February. Since then I’ve gained over a stone. Im now a size 16. I am hungry all the time. The doctor said this could be a side effect but I don’t know what to do. I don’t want to come of my medication as they really help my anxiety but I can’t stay like this I feel sick when I look at myself. Im only 5”3 so I look very heavy. My bloods have shown my thyroid is well controlled on levothyroxine.

I’d start by calorie counting your week of eating. Just eat like normal, but calorie count it. That was an eye opener for me when I first started losing weight.

Then calculate your TDEE (there’s calculators online) and bring your calories down to eat in line with that. If you can get some exercise in too, that’s great for your general mood and wellbeing, but weight loss is mainly done in the kitchen.
