How to flatten tummy? - muscles still a bit split

6 months after birth, I still have a 1 or 2 finger gap in those vertical stomach muscles.
Could I start doing sit ups with an abdominiser? I heard that sit ups can make it worse permanently. Is that true? Or should I be safe to do the exercises now?
The thought of my tummy on a beach is scary!

I think you should ask a referral to see a physio therapist to give you professional advice. I know they do that in Belgium, not sure about the NHS though! It's worth asking your GP.

Def. need to see a physio before you do manic sit-ups!

Your GP should be able to send you to see someone, though you may have to wait for an appt.

if there is still a split yo will have to wait awhile longer as doing ab work will result in causing the split to grow. all you can do is wait for nature to take its course i am afraid.
my brother is a personal trainer and he felt mine and said that once it is healed start with gentl exercise then increase but only once the muscles are back together completely. i di not start again til about 8 months to be on the safe side then went and got preggers again 2 months later!

you could always tuck your bellyin your knickers i am sure its not that bad. cant be as bad as straight after birth having a bath, standing up and looking at the horrrendous saggy belly staring back at you! my worst nightmare that was!

I'm having physio for mine - going today acually. they start you with v gentle pilates type excerices to knit te muscles from the inside out.
Do ask for a referral as sometimes waiting lists are long.
