I noticed one of my nipples has gone flat, not inverted, but doesn't pronounce as it did, no noticeable lump but can feel mass that seems to be stuck to rib. Should I be worried or does this happen with age, am 39

You need to urgently get that checked out. Best of luck. You'll probably be put on a two week cancer referral pathway - I've been on it three times and it's been nothing sinister, but time is of the essence in case it is.

isitmytime · 09/08/2025 20:21

Definitely get checked out. I had to go to the breast clinic to get a lump/pain/swelling checked out and thankfully it was nothing sinister but without the various checks/scans/biopsies I wouldn’t have known.
the sooner the better so please make the GP appointment to get the ball rolling…and don’t google.
from GP appointment to results was only 4weeks

Thank you, been worried but kept telling myself is OK. Hate my breasts, how they look so put it off.

Of course. Tag me in replies so I definitely see them but having been through the referral process multiple times I'm very happy to offer a hand hold. But first thing Monday get in the hideous phone queue and get a GP appointment. And to make you feel better, one of the times I went I sprayed the consultant in the face with breast milk as they examined my boob as I was still breastfeeding. So I'm sure in comparison your boobs will be very well behaved 😂

Please do report back. I hope you manage to get an appointment fairly quickly. I was extremely lucky I think but it made a huge difference not having to wait too long because despite telling myself not to worry I obviously did.
the initial hospital appointment was long! I was there for 4 hours for the various scans etc so go prepared.
mine turned out the best something caused by trauma to the breast tissue. I have no recollection of anything happening to be honest but it’s apparently fairly common

I will do, going to ring gp in morning, I do find it difficult as have agoraphobia but is on my notes so I don't have to wait to be seen thankfully. Not had any checks on breasts before so already feeling nervous. Your support is greatly appreciated.

@VividGreeni was stressed at the gp appointment but they were lovely, offered to get a chaperone but as it was a female Dr I was ok not having one. That exam took literally 2mins and I was dressed and out the door in about 5 mins.
they will have seen it all before so try not to get too worried about it

You've got this. One step at a time. Wear something loose as if you're feeling anxious you don't need to be flustered trying to wrestle your top back on or do up buttons.

Springadorable · 12/08/2025 01:17

@VividGreen did you manage to speak with the GP? Hope you're doing ok x

VividGreen · 12/08/2025 14:54

Hi yes I did, I've got an appointment Monday so will have to see what they say, really nervous tbh x

It’s a nervous time but please try not to overthink and get too stressed out. Monday will be here before you know it.

Springadorable · 13/08/2025 14:09

Just try to remember that having the appointment won't make things worse, but not going definitely could ❤️
