Heart arrhythmia

Last 4 weeks, never happened before. Periods of unusual (for me) heart rhythm. No more anxious than usual (much less stressful job for the last 4 months and no major life issues going on).
Wakes me in the night. If it’s in the day, makes me feel ‘funny’ for a bit. Very mild cough sometimes.
All sounds so trivial it’s not worth seeing a GP. EXCEPT, my dad and paternal grandmother both died in their early 60s of heart attacks. I’m 50. This, unsurprisingly, does make me feel anxious!
Is it even worth seeing a GP for this as it’s not causing me any problems really?

This is definitely worth seeing your GP for. Generally symptoms which wake you at night (as opposed to being present when you wake) should be taken seriously. They may want to refer you for a wearable heart monitor to see what’s going on

Go to your GP.

Keep a diary of symptoms and if you can take your pulse.

I’ve got an ecg thing on my watch and it definitely shows a different rhythm when I’m feeling these symptoms.
Thanks, I’ll make an appointment.

Be careful with a watch ecg, you don't know what you are looking at.

Oh yes, I make no claims to understanding it. Only that it’s different when ‘it’s happening’ to when it’s not. Thanks again.
