Transporting antibiotics question - sorry if silly

Hi,

My poor 4yo is on a 3 weeks antibiotics course and it has coincided with her spending the Summer holiday with me off childcare (I'm a teacher) so amongst quiet days at home, we're having the odd day out. Obviously the doses are roughly morning, lunchtime and night and the antibiotics (which have been premixed) need to be refrigerated. Today we were home for lunch but at times we like to be out for the day (e.g. to a museum and we'll have lunch out.) Has anyone had this before? Is there a way I could safely transport the antibiotics whilst out and about or do I risk ruining the mixture? I was thinking a couple of ice packs in her thermal lunch box. Please be kind as despite the doctors not being too worried, she's still my little baby. If people think it's safer to just come back for lunch every day it's absolutely fine for us to do that. Thank you 😊 P.S. Also worth adding, she's not experiencing any symptoms that need her to stay home etc.

I guess non-cold anti biotics might lose their effectiveness a bit, but I don't they'd hurt any more than like meat would. I think if you cool bag them like you would lunch, she'll be fine. Just a little cool bag with an ice block.

I’d take the dose for while you’re out separately portioned (eg in a calpol syringe or two) and put it with an ice pack or cold pack. Rather than the whole bottle each time.

I'd take just the one dose out with you, in a syringe. That way the whole bottle isn't at risk of regularly warming up.

I often have to carry medicine and I use bottles like these - don’t throw them away because I guarantee they will become useful again! You can measure a dose into them and if you need larger ones, they also sell larger capacity

Thanks so much for your responses everyone. In the end I bought some little travel pots and measured out the lunchtime dose as advised, rather than bringing the whole bottle. I just put it in the lunchbox with an ice pack.

Thanks again 😊

l remeber a journey back from France where DD had been prescribed antibiotics there.

We had to buy a fucking mini fridge to transport them on. It was a 2 day journey. Bloody nightmare.

They’ll be fine in a cool bag by the way
