Lump under gum

I have had a lump under my gum on bottom jaw since before Christmas. Seen dentist twice and second time she said she would refer me as it hadn't gone with antibiotics, although she had done x-rays and nothing on those. Last appointment was June and I havent heard anything. Should I go to doctors to see if they can get things moving? Back to dentist? Feeling it today and I believe it has got bigger although it is hard to measure. Mostly concerned as my brother had oral cancer (had to have an operation but now in recovery) and it was the family history that made the dentist want to refer me. Not sure when or how to chase...

Just phone the dentist and get them to confirm referral has been sent. The wait to oral & max facial is usually several months long before you hear in our area. If the dentist thought it was cancer they would have done an urgent referral so just ask if it’s been sent as routine or urgent.
Drs won’t deal with this though in my area.
Once you’ve confirmed referral has been done, phone the hospital and ask to be put through to the secretary. You can then ask how long the wait is and ask to be put on their cancellation list.

Thank you, that's really helpful. I just wasn't sure what to ask. I didn't think it would be a doctor thing as no apparent symptoms. I will give them a call on Monday. Thanks again!
