Bupa

Have recently joined Bupa through my husbands work about 4 months ago.
I was referred to neurology in September 2024 by my GP for ongoing right sided numbness, also had brain mri which was clear.
Does anyone know if I can use Bupa even though I have already been to the gp with these symptoms?

You need to read your policy documents. For personal policies there is typically a 5 year exclusion on any pre-existing conditions/symptoms, meaning it wouldn’t be covered. Work policies often differ and are more lenient.

I would call BUPA and set out your symptoms and ask them.

Depends entirely on the details of the work scheme. Mine covers all pre-existing (but not current) conditions including for family.

Phone up and ask (they’re always really nice/helpful) as it will depend on your policy

Thanks all, spoke with a physio who wants to refer to neurology. So just need to wait and see if Bupa will approve it. Sounds like it might not be approved though due it to being pre-existing. 18 months down the line and still no further forward with my GP
