Having surgery and I feel like an absolute wreck

I was told last week I needed sinus surgery. I was told it would be a year away.

I got the call this week and was told it’s actually in two weeks time. I feel totally overwhelmed. I’ve never been put under before and I’m terrified.

im going to be having endoscopic sinus surgery.

im terrified that i wont wake up, im terrified that something will go wrong and ill end up blind, I dont think ill be getting travel insurance so im going to have to cancel my holiday.

im at work and all in a flap. I just want to cry, I was supposed to have a year to decide if I wanted it or not. I wasn’t prepared for this. I’m just not ready for it at all, I’m scared of recovery and everything. I’m not going to get the time off work; because my work are being dicks to me anyway because I’m in my notice. I’m just terrified

Feel the fear and fo it anyway is my life motto. You lose so much if you back out of everything. You don't truly live.
With the exception of bungee jumping. Sod that.

re Mounjaro- I was admitted through a&e yesterday and had appendectomy earlier today - my last jab was 5 days ago and it wasn’t an issue - the anaesthetist was happy I’d not eaten for a day and a half due to pain etc and the risk was minimal but they were aware and pleased I had told them.

Work - again don’t let them stress you out. Talk to the surgical team pre and post op, explain the stresses you are under and they should issue a fit note- when I had an op last year, they gave me 2 weeks that took me to the consultant review post surgery for stitches out, and he then gave me a further 8 weeks even though I wfh. They will want to support whatever you need for a good recovery.

likewise holiday… it’s not till September so you’ll have nearly 3 months recovery …. You’ll be ok - enjoy planning that and what to wear as Mounjaro continues to work!

you can do this …. And better to get it over with than struggle in first another year!

I don't think the op will see this, the post was a year ago. Great advice though.
