Hello

My GP has advised 20-40mg of propanolol for performance related anxiety as I suffer from horrendous physical symptoms such as shaking, sweating etc when public speaking and I have a big speech to give in a weeks time. The consult was online and he said based on my medical history, I'd be fine to take it before such performances. However I'm worried about the drug lowering my bp too much. It's normally around 105/65. The GP didn't seem fussed when I mentioned this. Should I be worried about taking the drug with low bp? Unfortunately I can't get another GP appointment to ask before the event this weekend. Experiences please!

It’s really good for this type of situation. Why don’t you try 20mg over the next few days, at a time you’re not too busy and monitor your blood pressure and how you feel. If it’s fine and your GP is happy to give it then I’m sure it will be okay but definitely try it before the talk.

@Susieblue18 that's a good idea, I'm planning in giving that a go today

Is 20mg enough for a big presentation or should I go with 30mg? Not sure it it's make a difference but I'm petite, weight 48.5kg
