Just looking for some info from anyone who has ever had one. How bad is the pain? I may very well be pregnant and have lower abdo pain on one side.

vian, how many weeks do you think you are? any other symptoms?

spub · 26/05/2008 18:35

Pain out to the shoulder is somehting to watch out for.
Hope you are in fact ok.

I'm afraid there is no text book pain. I've had two and both very different. For the first, it was 'just' a miscarriage for over 2 weeks, according to EPU and then when my HCG levels didn't go down quick enough, they whipped me in to have a look. They found EP and were amazed that I had had no pain for so long. It was probably because it hadn't ruptured.

The second, was major pain. Hot and cold sweats and I couldn't breathe.

Shoulder pain is reasonably common, but again, not always.

The only way to be sure it isn't, is to get yourself to A&E or EPU as soon as poss.

Sorry I couldn't be more conclusive. Hope you're OK too.

Hi there,

Maybe about 6 weeks I think. I kind of just realized that I am 2 weeks late and haven't tested. The only other time in my life that I was late by more than a day i was pregnant so.... I am going to take a test and get checked out tomorrow. I have this sharp stabbing pain on one side of my lower left abdomen but it's not horrible..just really annoying. I wouldn't say I was really poorly or anything.

Thanks for the responses.

get to A&E now.
doesn't have to be agony pain. don't need to have had any bleeding
check out here
the'd rather check you over and send you away than have you collapse in a heap.

MaureenMLove · 26/05/2008 19:33

If it gets even the tiniest bit worse, go to A&E. Look after yourself and do let us know, if you can.

AitchTwoCiao · 26/05/2008 19:35

you really need to know if you're pregnant first. and re the symptoms... like maureen says, there is no textbook. shoulder pain comes after the tube has burst, you want to get onto it before then, ideally. i don't understand why you haven't already tested, tbh.

lazarou · 26/05/2008 19:37

My sister had one. She felt faint all day, then collapsed in the bathroom.
You should phone nhs helpline asap.

Piffle · 26/05/2008 19:39

Go to a&e please
I had minor abdo pain and disregarded it... Wish I hadn't just for peace of mind do go..

AitchTwoCiao · 26/05/2008 19:40

you shoudl do a pg test asap. there are protocols in place for an ep, but number one you have to know if you're pregnant. there are other causes of no period and pain.

lazarou · 26/05/2008 19:43

Are you on your own?

lazarou · 26/05/2008 22:33

Everything ok Vian? Have you done a test?

roobis · 27/05/2008 15:52
