Fresh outbreak of spots on day 7/8 of chicken pox?

All the others had scabbed over, and we honestly thought dd was no longer infectious and on the mend. She has approx 50-100 (not counted) tiny new red spots all over her upper chest and underarms - its still CP, right? And she's still infectious, even though its a week since it started, right?

and seems sort of unwell again in herself, with it

couldn't be something else could it?!

hmmm Ive not heard of getting a second out break that far into chicken pox....both mine have had it and tbh most of them were out by about day 2/3...scabbed over within the week.

could these be a viral spot rather than the watery spots that come with chicken pox??

hope some one can advise. Poor DD XX

thanks, stopinattwo (me too, btw!), that could be it - don't seem to be blistering, at least not yet.

Hello

My son had really bad chicken pox when he was at nursery school. He also had a second set of spots break out after about a week and my GP said it was his body having an allergic reaction to the chicken pox virus!!

My son is allergic to penicillin, dustmites so has inhalers and at that point in time was seeing the consultants about possible milk intolerance...so it should have come as no surprise that he was allergic to chickenpox!!!

Hi
Don't want to worry you inadvertently but when my son was 7 mths old he came out in a rash 1 week after having chicken pox. Was taken into hospital as the rash failed the all important 'glass test' (he was also unwell again, but with no other obviouse meningitis symptoms). After 24 hours in hospital a viral rash was diagnosed but the ward sister told me that meningitis was a little known side effect of chicken pox.
I'm sure this is very rare but I had never heard of it. Maybe a good idea to get a GP's opinion?

Thanks both, dd is now asleep with no further spreading of rash/pox, and having spent an hour dancing around the sitting room 'because I'm not tired and I need exercise'

Not too worried about her, but still a bit baffled - thanks for the heads up re allergies and meningitis, its good to be aware of the possibility of both, and will keep a close eye.
