Does this horsefly bite look infected?

Got bitten on Thursday, it isn't sore, little itchy but quite red. Does it look infected or usual healing for a horsefly bite?

Looks OK. Use hydrocortisone on it, and take antihistamines to stop the itching. I've got one on my arm and it looked like that for around a week, it's slowly starting to go at last but I've got a swelling the size of an egg underneath it still. They get me every summer, bastards, and I've got many scars.

If it turns green then I’d worry

Draw a line round it then go to bed, you'll
see if it increases in size. Just looks red and nasty but not infected right now. I had one that went right round my thigh, I needed antibiotics for it and it left a bruise.

I’ve just had antibiotics from the pharmacist for a massive insect bite. Go and get it checked out.

This is my currently infected horsefly bite. First time bitten by one and absolutely awful, the redness spread to my groin and one of my lymph nodes is swollen. It was rock hard and couldn't put pressure on it for the first couple of days too with the infection but the antibiotics are kicking in now. Hope it calms down for you OP.
