I am currently suffering with a bad flare up on my Face it burns and burns my face hurts so very much it burns at night and keeps me awake. This is the worst flare up on my Face ever and has such a major effect on mental health. I've been in the house for weeks now only going out for doctors appts or Hospital appts. I was in Hospital last year with severe eczema and tried the medication Methotrexate but that did not help. Tomorrow I will go to Dermatology and will be starting Abrocitinib. I hope this will help as so far I've had many appts and just keep getting creams and steroid creams and so far none of it helps me. I'm just so very down guess even just kind words would mean the world to me. I don't know if anyone is on Abrocitinib or knows of it? Is it a good medication? Side effects? Thankyou so much.

Not that one, but I’m on Adalimumab for psoriasis.

Skin conditions are bloody awful, aren’t they? Sympathies Flowers

Fellow eczema sufferer here. I’m sorry you’re going through this, eczema sucks and it’s horrid when you get it on your face. That looks so sore and itchy.

I haven’t used the medicine you are about to start taking but have been through a couple of spells of having facial eczema and I hated it and I wanted to hide away too so I feel your pain.

I’m sure you’ve tried everything and are completely fed up of all of the well meaning but annoyingly comments such as - stress makes eczema worse and have you tried this cream made from some weird goat concoction so I hope you don’t mind me passing on what caused my flares.

I did eventually track down the cause of both of my facial flares. The first time was because I’m allergic to diprobase and was putting it on a small patch and it had the opposite effect it was meant to have and caused my eczema to spread across my entire face! Only worked it out when I ran out. The second was whatever they were cleaning my desk with at work, getting transferred on my hands and then to my face.

I also think a vitamin B supplement really helps, there’s lots of emerging research in the role of vitamin B in helping eczema. ( you can google it) My hand eczema has been a lot better since starting a supplement a couple of years ago.

Also, if you are on any other medications, check the side effects list to see if exacerbating eczema is listed. One flare I had was due to that.

I really do hope the medication helps.

@TheGirlattheBack Yes my face is very sore and burns burns burns. Burning more than itching but oh yes annoying the amount of times I hear anti histamines for itching for eczema. I've had different ones and antihistamines do nothing for my condition. Doctors just give you cream after cream after cream I've tried so many and even last week the Dermatologist was going to give me Betnovate before the discussion of the Abrocitinib medication. At the moment I really couldn't have any steroid creams burning me on top of the burn I have. It's awful. Thankyou x

UPDATE seen consultant today prescribed Abrocitinib but pharmacy says may be a while till they get it. My eczema so Bad Bad Bad the consultant said it was bad but seemed to focus on asking me about my mental health and Depression and saying that could be a reason. I said look at me this is why I'm depressed and he said it was Bad. I mustn't cry as that flares my face up and I'm already badly inflamed and Red Red Red but I just feel so miserable and so very very SAD. Thankyou for reading.

Well he’s a peach isn’t he! Makes my blood boil that they go straight to mental health with women, it’s like a script, I don’t know the cause so it must be anxiety or MH related. Gaahhh. Idiotic!

I hope the new medicine does the trick for you. Keeping everything crossed and of course you’re miserable with that going on with your skin! 💐

Just a little niggling thought - how’s your health otherwise? Could it be an autoimmune butterfly rash?

Dreamer2027 · 11/07/2025 12:26

@TheGirlattheBack usually I'm not a quick thinker and slower with responses but I think what I said was good when he seemed to be focusing towards mental health and that that could be the reason my skin problems because of mental Health. I said yes I do have Anxiety but look at me that's why I'm depressed now and he said my face was bad. Looking like this and this condition would deffinitely make anyone feel Depressed I'm sure. I think the chemist have ordered the Abrocitinib bur don't know when they will get it. I don't know about a Butterly rash and no one said anything about that is that what you would be on an immunosupressant for? I was on methotrexate last year but had problems with that so came off it I thought Abrocitinib was an immunosupressant too but I don't actually think it is it comes under another category i think. Thankyou.
